360 Underwater Pioneers
In the beginning when we started to create rigs to explore 360 underwater, our camera systems consisted of 6 cameras. Reasons for needing these many cameras were due to limitations of the cameras themselves. Although field of view was narrow , 6 cameras at the very least could capture a full 360 environment efficiently. For many years our 6 camera system, the 360Abyss, was a huge hit with large underwater productions at great depths. Nevertheless we knew we had to create something for the recreational diver in mind. As action cameras have significantly advanced in the last 6 years, our technology has advanced with them. This is how the 360SeaDAK came to be.
The 360SeaDAK housing easily positions only two KODAK PIXPRO SP360 4K cameras back to back. Together, both cameras capture fully spherical 360 x 180 degree 360 video content. Optical domes designed for this camera system restore camera field of view and correct lens distortion underwater. Furthermore, cameras are easy to assemble and disassemble from housing on site. Two thumb screws secure the cameras inside the housing. The draw latch securely closes the clam shell-like housing. Located on the housing are two buttons for each camera. One button is for powering each camera on/off while the other button is to stop/ start recording. The SeaDAK features Multiple 3/8″ and 1/4″-20 threaded mounting points for camera pole, ROV, dive scooter, and submarine mounting. Furthermore, the SeaDAK ease of use has caught the attention of many divers!
